New RACE PhD Studentships

The Research into Inflammatory Arthritis Centre Versus Arthritis (RACE) was awarded funding of nearly £2m over five years from Versus Arthritis, and is in its second phase.  The Centre operates a unique multi-centre supervision programme across it’s hubs: Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle and now Oxford, which recently joined the collaboration.  This funding will focus on translational and experimental medicine and clinical trials for research into inflammatory arthritis, and the expanded four-centre PhD training programme will continue as part of this.  PhD students are encouraged to spend time in at least two of the hubs as part of an integrated exchange programme to offer a truly exceptional educational support programme, with maximal exposure to state-of-the-art technology in the arthritis field.

12 PhD students will be appointed in RACE’s second phase; seven students began in 2020, and they have shared some details about themselves and their projects here.

In addition, we hope to recruit a further five PhD students to start in 2021; project application details are here

All 12 PhD students appointed in the Centre’s first term have successfully completed and you can learn more about them on the former students page
